Dear Colleagues:
I am thrilled to invite you to the STP 44th Annual Symposium: Toxicologic Neuropathology: Basics and Beyond, scheduled for June 22–25, 2025, at the Fairmont Chicago – Millennium Park in Chicago, Illinois. This symposium promises to be an exceptional opportunity to engage with leading experts, share insights, and deepen our understanding of critical topics in toxicologic neuropathology. Now is the perfect time to plan on reconnecting with colleagues and immerse yourself in a dynamic program filled with cutting-edge scientific sessions, enriching continuing education courses, and valuable networking opportunities.
Scientific Co-Chairs Drs. LuAnn McKinney (US FDA), Ingrid D. Pardo (Biogen), and Caroline J. Zeiss (Yale University), along with the 2025 Scientific Program Planning Committee, have meticulously curated an exceptional week of sessions designed to deepen your understanding of the unifying theme: effective animal-to-human translation in neurotherapeutic development. Keynote speakers, Drs. Rudolph J. Castellani (Northwestern University) and Jeffrey A. Loeb (University of Illinois College of Medicine) will offer invaluable insights into this important field. The program features five comprehensive sessions, covering topics such as Fundamentals of Neuropathology, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Neurobiomarkers, Neuro-Omics, Hot Topics, Challenges, and Future Directions.
I encourage you to visit the Annual Symposium website to review the preliminary program and to secure your hotel reservations at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park as soon as possible to ensure availability and take advantage of the negotiated rates for the convenience of all our attendees. Reserving your room at the official hotel helps ensure that STP can secure appropriate meeting space for the Annual Symposium while keeping registration rates low. Don’t forget to register by April 30th to take advantage of the Early Bird Rate!
The symposium will kick off on Sunday morning with the Division of Translational Toxicology (DTT) Satellite Symposium, followed by a continuing education course titled "Multi-Modality Investigative Pathology." This course will focus on the current and future states of the investigative pathobiology "lab of the future" and offer an overview of spatial transcriptomics in drug development. In addition to the in-person CE course, four virtual courses will be offered throughout the year. Please visit the Continuing Education webpage for additional details. Join us on Tuesday afternoon for the Mystery Slide Session focused on toxicologic neuropathology.
Our exhibitors are essential to our meeting, so be sure to visit them in the Exhibit Hall, which opens on Sunday, June 22, at 5:30 PM. The Exhibit Hall will also host our Welcome Reception from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM that evening.
Chicago boasts a rich array of attractions, stunning parks, and a beautiful lakefront, alongside its remarkable architecture, world-class museums, and diverse dining and entertainment options, making it an ideal venue for our symposium. Take the opportunity to explore the vibrant culture and history the city has to offer during your stay. Visit the About Chicago webpage for additional details.
Until then, stay well and be safe. I look forward to seeing you in Chicago!
Sincerely,
Richard A. Peterson II, DVM, PhD, DACVP STP President, 2024-2025
