Nominate an Outstanding Colleague for an STP Award

Each year, the Society recognizes scientists who are making a positive impact in the field of toxicologic pathology from all career levels through the STP Awards program. Society members are encouraged to nominate outstanding fellow STP members for four 2024 awards:

    • STP Lifetime Achievement Award
    • STP Distinguished Early Career Award
    • STP Outstanding Mentor Award
    • NEW: STP Mid-Career Excellence Award

March 30 is the nomination deadline for each award.

The STP Lifetime Achievement Award is given to a member in good standing who has played critical and influential roles in the area of toxicologic pathology over an extended period of time. Nominees will have been contributing for 20 years or more and may be active or retired. Retired members must have Emeritus status to retain eligibility. Achievement may be demonstrated by a body of work in any or all of the following areas: Scientific discovery, education, regulatory standards, or service to the Society of Toxicologic Pathology. The recipient is awarded a $1,000 monetary prize and plaque at the Awards and Recognition Ceremony during the STP Annual Symposium.

The STP Distinguished Early Career Award is given to a member in good standing who has made significant early career advances in toxicologic pathology. The award is intended for young investigators (within ten years of last relevant training, i.e., residency/postdoctoral study/graduate degree completion) who have distinguished themselves in industry, government, education, and/or public service. The recipient is awarded a $750 monetary prize and plaque at the Awards and Recognition Ceremony during the STP Annual Symposium.

The STP Outstanding Mentor Award is given to a member in good standing who has played a significant role in the training of toxicologic pathologists. This award is intended for individuals who have mentored pathologists as part of formal training programs as well as for individuals who have consistently provided informal coaching or instruction. The recipient is awarded a $750 monetary prize and plaque at the Awards and Recognition Ceremony during the STP Annual Symposium.

Beginning in 2024, the STP Mid-Career Excellence Award will be given to a member in good standing who has made outstanding contributions in toxicologic pathology in the middle phase of their career. Nominees will be active members, within 11 to 20 years of last relevant training (i.e., residency/postdoctoral study/graduate degree completion), who have distinguished themselves as leaders in industry, government, education, and/or public service. The recipient will be awarded a $750 monetary prize and plaque at the Awards and Recognition Ceremony during the STP Annual Symposium.

Several opportunities exist for students to apply for monetary awards through the generous Student Awards program. The deadline for most awards is March 30. See individual award details for nomination/application and selection processes.
