Dear Colleagues:

With a little support from Mother Nature, we will be able to meet in person for the STP 41st Annual Symposium: Toxicologic Pathology of the Hematopoietic System from June 19-23, 2022, at the Austin Marriott Downtown in Austin, Texas. Now is the opportune time to make plans to reconnect with your colleagues for another dynamic meeting with excellent scientific sessions, continuing education courses, and many networking opportunities.

Program Co-Chairs Drs. Michelle Cora (NIEHS/NTP), Basel Assaf (Sanofi), David Caudell (Wake Forest University), and the 2022 Scientific Program Planning Committee have planned an excellent week of sessions to converge clinical and anatomic pathology aspects of the hematopoietic system and to expose attendees to a broad array of contemporary topics related to toxicologic pathology of the hematopoietic system. The CE courses selected by Drs. Sanjeev Gumber and Maria Dagli will have something of interest for everybody! In addition to the outstanding scientific program, numerous special events are scheduled. You are encouraged to visit the Annual Symposium website to review the preliminary program and to make hotel reservations as soon as possible to ensure availability and to take advantage of the early registration fee. Please register by April 30th to receive the Early Bird Rate!

The symposium will kick off on Sunday before the general sessions begin with the NTP Satellite Symposium, “Pathology Potpourri,” chaired by Dr. Erin Quist, a CE course "No Bones About It: Considerations for Bone Toxicity, Healing, and Remodeling Studies," as well as the Career Development Workshop "Professional Visibility: The Toxicologic Pathologist's Guide to Getting Out There.” Three additional CE Courses will be offered virtually later in the summer. More information on the virtual CE courses is available on the website.

Continuing in 2022 is “Mystery Slide Session: Hematopoietic Pathology” on Monday, June 20, from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. This event is open to all attendees with no additional fee (registration required). The topic of the Career Development Roundtable, which is also open to all attendees with no additional fee and requires registration in advance, will be held on Wednesday from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, is “Mentoring with Intention: A Panel Discussion on Mentorship and Coaching.”

Our exhibitors in the Exhibit Hall are an important part of our meeting. Please plan on visiting them early and often. The Exhibit Hall opens on Sunday, June 18, at 5:30 pm and will be the venue for our Welcoming Reception from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm.

The Symposium and Exhibition will be held at the new Austin Marriott Downtown, just 12 minutes from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). Reserving your room at the official hotel helps STP secure appropriate meeting space for the annual symposium while also keeping registration rates low. You are encouraged to book at this hotel, where we have reserved a block of rooms at negotiated rates for the convenience of all our attendees.

June is a wonderful time to enjoy Austin, a vibrant city known for its live-music scene, art exhibits, and award-winning food concessions, with lots of parks and lakes for hiking, biking, swimming, and boating.

I look forward to reconnecting with everyone in Austin as we get back to some level of normalcy (fingers crossed!). Until then, stay well and find joy where you can.

Sincerely,

Rani S. Sellers, DVM, PhD, DACVP
STP President, 2021–2022
