Dear Colleagues:

Greetings! After careful consideration, data gathering, and ongoing monitoring of travel and facility restrictions on a regional, national, and international basis, the Executive Committee (EC) has made the difficult but prudent decision to host this year’s Annual Symposium virtually. Based on current and forecast restrictions, we simply could not host an in-person meeting in the location and at the time we had planned.

As such, we cordially invite you to join your colleagues for the STP 40th Annual Symposium, a Virtual Event to be held June 28–30, 2021. Program Co-Chairs Drs. Marie-Odile Benoit-Biancamano (University of Montreal), Wendy Halpern (Genentech), and George Parker (Charles River Laboratories), and the 2021 Scientific Program Planning Committee, have planned excellent sessions on “Toxicologic Pathology Relevant to the Pediatric Population,” which will be presented in a user-friendly virtual platform. In addition to the outstanding scientific program, numerous special events are scheduled. You are encouraged to register for the meeting as soon as possible to take advantage of the reduced early registration fee. In celebration of the STP 50th Anniversary, the first 500 registrants will receive a commemorative 50th Anniversary photo frame and 50th Anniversary enamel lapel pin.

Prior to the Symposium plan to attend the Annual Business Meeting on Wednesday, June 23; the Awards & Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, June 24; and the interactive NTP Satellite Symposium, “Pathology Potpourri,” chaired by Dr. Susan Elmore (NIEHS/NTP) on Friday, June 25. More details on these pre-symposium sessions and the scheduling of Career Development sessions and the Town Hall will be available soon.

Four half-day Continuing Education (CE) Courses will be offered virtually on Fridays in July, August, and September. The CE Courses are: Stem Cell-Derived Therapy Nonclinical Safety Assessment (CE1), Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Toxicologic Pathology (CE2), Moving a Drug into the Clinic: Using PK/PD Modeling to Assess Benefit/Risk and Guide Dosing in Early Trials (CE3), and Biomarkers of Drug-Induced Liver Injury: The Past, Present, and Future (CE4). The date for each course and registration details will be available in the coming months.

The STP Virtual Exhibition will provide easy access for all registrants to the latest in technology and services. Visit the STP 40th Annual Symposium website frequently for up-to-date information.

I look forward to greeting you at our first ever Virtual Annual Symposium!

Sincerely,

Emily Meseck, DVM, DACVP, DABT
STP President, 2020–2021
