Dear Society of Toxicologic Pathology (STP) Members,
In my first communication as president, I am compelled to reach out to acknowledge the grief, pain and loss we have been witness to in recent weeks in response to the violent deaths of black men and women by police and the racism that infiltrates the daily lives of Black, indigenous and people of color. These injustices cannot and should not be tolerated.

The STP is committed to ensuring that the Society is a fully inclusive environment in which everyone’s talent, knowledge, and experience are valued. I want each and every member of the Society to know that we, your executive committee, are listening and we are committed to change to ensure that each of you is heard, has the opportunity to contribute, and feels welcome at the table.
I ran for STP president on a platform of inclusion and diversity, and while I do not have answers to the complex underlying societal, structural, and systemic obstructions and problems, I am committed to seeking out and addressing inequities within our Society. This effort began last year with the adoption of an official Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy and will continue with individual and group efforts.
As part of our commitment to this cause, the executive committee will convene a task force to identify areas for improvement and change to increase diversity and ensure an inclusive, safe environment for all Society members, management staff, and participants in STP activities so that together we can grow, adapt and meet the changing needs of the society (at large) in all the facets of the important work our members do in academia, industry, government, consulting and more.
