SIGNALMENT: Case 98150. Four year old (peripubertal) male cynomolgus macaque (Macaca fascicularis), of Indonesian origin.
TREATMENT PROTOCOL: Animals dosed with a fusion protein at 10 micrograms/kg/day x 5 days.
GROSS PATHOLOGY: Heart: There were 8 small (1-3 mm) focal hemorrhages on the epicardial surface of the ventricles.
The lungs were diffusely heavy (27.5 and 31.38 grams, approximately 5 times normal weight), dark red, and wet. White foam exuded from the trachea and major bronchi.
LABORATORY RESULTS: On the day before euthanasia CBC results included:
- PCV 37%;
- WBC 2.1 x 103/mm3
- 1% segs
- 97% lymphs
- 2% monos
- 0% eos
- 0% basos
- platelets 69,000/mm3.
